We have speculated for some months that most Kleinsteubers in Germany originated from the Wutha-Farnroda and next door Thal communities. I received several hundred parish records in October, however they only went to 1700 and did not coincide with the records we need for the Wisconsin Kleinsteubers (whose oldest documented ancestor was Johann Jacob Kleinsteuber born in Thal in 1750).
I have completed the documenting (in Geni) of the records I have, and expect to receive parish records up to 1800 within the next week. The half circle fan chart shown here represents all the Kleinsteubers in the above mentioned parish records received to date.
Coincidentally, I now believe that the common Kleinsteuber ancestor I have been searching for originated before parish records began in 1600, likely in this same small area, but will never be proven.
There are now 1,022 Kleinsteuber descendants under the "Unconnected Kleinsteubers" dummy Profile in Geni.com. These groups include the Tennesee Kleinsteubers, the Wisconsin Kleinsteubers, the Preston Waterloo Kleinsteubers, the Actinolite eastern Ontario Kleinsteubers, and so on.
