INTRODUCTION:
Note: If you are already familiar with the Introduction page contents, click on this link to go to the History & Stories - Our Family Histories (weebly.com)
Around the beginning of this 21st Century I developed a real interest in tracking my family ancestry... being retired, I had time to spare and my background in computer technology would likely aid my search. I knew this search would be quite straightforward as my father’s Millard family were English and my mother’s Kleinsteuber family were German.
Did I ever have a lot to learn!
Like a rich tapestry, when you pull one thread you will find it is attached to many others, and in my case these threads were connected to United Empire Loyalist, Scottish, English, French, Irish, German, Dutch, and still more threads. Along the way I discovered my greatest pleasure was in making contact with living cousins, many of whom share an interest in learning more about their families and each other.
The History & Stories page has information related to Kleinsteubers and Millards, and also a number of families and stories that are connected or associated, including Greatrix, Kenny, Rodgers, Schottlander, and Youmans.
Today, in addition to this website, we have several FaceBook Group sites where we have also learned to stay in touch with each other, and our Kleinsteuber FB Group has over 300 members spread across 7 different countries.
- The Hamiltons of Renfrew County FB Group is at Hamiltons of Renfrew County
- The Kenny Kuzns FB Group is at Kenny Kuzns
- The Kleinsteuber FB Group is at My Last Name is Kleinsteuber!
- The Millard FB Group is at Millard is our Name
- The Schottlander FB Group is at We were Schottländers!
-------------------------------------------------
Welcome to this website, my name is Keith Millard, and I started this website a number of years ago (perhaps in 2007 or 2008) using a website build tool called Weebly. Many of the contents have been provided by other authors and contributors in this great extended family.
Author Alex Haley (1921 – 1992) was the author of Roots: The Saga of an American Family, and he made this statement;
"In all of us there is a hunger, marrow deep, to know our heritage - to know who we are and where we came from. Without this enriching knowledge, there is a hollow yearning. No matter what our attainments in life, there is still a vacuum, an emptiness, and the most disquieting loneliness."
