Johann Theodor Wendel Kleinsteuber 1804 - 1866
Theodor was the patriarch of the Actinolite Kleinsteubers, he was baptized at the St Augustinkirche in Gotha Germany and lived there until his death from cholera in 1866; seven of his children and his widow all immigrated between 1852 and 1868 to eastern Ontario on the edge of the inhospitable Canadian Shield about 50 miles north of Kingston, Ontario (and Lake Ontario). One adult daughter remained in Germany and her descendants still live there today. Theodor was a successful shoemaker in Gotha, Germany, and several of his sons reported their occupation as Shoemaker upon their arrival at the Castle Garden Immigration Centre in New York.
