The 1888 photo is of Hugo & Christina Rehder Kleinsteuber (Hugo changed it to Kleinsteiber) and 4 of their 7 children.
Christina was left a widow after her Hugo died in 1892 at the early age of 38.
We have often wondered how and where Christina raised the children by herself, and some speculated she had moved to Paris, Ontario to live with her parents.
One of my many genealogy contacts, Donald Partridge, has recently come across a typewritten obituary for Christina (died in Hamilton in 1941 at the age of 84), stating that Christina had been a member of the Melrose United Church in Hamilton for 60 years.
Now we know she stayed in Hamilton and raised the children.
