German genealogy research:

I've had comments from a number of people about conducting research on German ancestors.

Very little is available online in English, and all German birth, marriage, and death records were maintained by the local parishes until the very late 1800s.

Most of these parish records were recorded in old German High Script.  The attached photo is the 1804 christening record for my 3rd great grandfather, Johann Theodor Wendel Kleinsteuber. (click on the picture to enlarge it)

This is why I recommend hiring a competent German genealogy researcher, to find the records, and present the findings in English.  They belong to a licensed organization.

Greetings
I am new to your Blog, My name is Glen Peel and my connection is that my Daughter is married to a descendant of Rudolf Kleinsteuber. I have been trying to put together a family tree so that our grandchildren will know their legacy. You have mentioned that there is information on Geni dot com but the site is restricted.
Another question that I have is about Amanda Kleinsteuber who was married to Oran Greatrix on the 1901 Canadian cencus she was living at home with her parents and her husband was living in another location with the 3 oldest children where they divorced? Did he or she remarry?

Glen

I understand from your web site you will be traveling for the next while. It sounds like a trip of a lifetime and I hope you have a great time.
