A number of times and with little success we have searched for the "official" arrival of the Ontario Kleinsteubers. A large number of hours spent poring over 1850s & 1860s ship's manifests wasn't much better, until I found the Castle Garden immigration center in New York (used until Ellis Island became operational) has their immigrant arrivals available online.... and of course with multiple spellings for the same last name; a wild card search using "kleins*" was quite successful.
The attached is a photographic composite of the results with text added; we now can declare with some certainty that the first Kleinsteuber brothers in Actinolite did not arrive in the US together. Henry arrived first, in 1852 (just a couple of months before the Wisconsin Kleinsteubers.... one wonders if they knew each other in Gotha), followed by John Henry Lorenz 7 years later in 1859, then Carl and Julius together in 1866, newly widowed Dorothea and 4 children in 1867, and finally William in 1868.
There are other Kleinsteubers identified on this list that do not seem to match the Preston Waterloo or the Kentucky Kleinsteuber immigrants.
