Our oldest known Millard ancestor in Maulden, Bedfordshire was Richard Millard b. 1542. With the help of the Maulden Parish records, turns out Richard had at least 4 and perhaps 5 siblings, and the family name was Myllward, not simplified to Millard until the 1600s. Myllward was typically the medieval name for a miller, so this family may not be descended from Huguenots. However, it appears Richard's sister may have been baptized after she got married, which may have been typical for religious dissidents (to become baptized into the Church of England).
Our Geni Profile for the day is Millard Fillmore, 13th President of the United States; Richard Myllward was his 6th great grandfather.
