Extracting information from old parish records is often a painstaking process. As seen in the attached scan, most of these parish records have to be checked line by line, and when a candidate for our Family Tree is found, it has to be slotted in to the correct place. In this example, we are dealing with 4 generations of Henry Miller (in the oldest generation named as Henry Milward), so "Hen s of Hen Miller" (Henry, son of Henry Miller) has to be matched to the correct Henry Miller.
Exacerbating the process, some of the parish entries had become illegible before they were transcribed due to fading ink, and in addition 37 years of Baptism, Marriage, and Burial records are missing in the early to mid 1600s, likely due to the purges of all catholic churches and property during the Civil War and Oliver Cromwell puritan reign.
