Genealogy research is a lot like a jigsaw puzzle, a lot of time looking for a missing piece or trying to determine which of two almost identical pieces are correct. As parish records contain the only information available, and migration of people between parishes was not documented, it takes painstaking examination to prove lineage (the forte of my cousin Earl Millard).
We know for a certainty my 4th great grandfather was Robert Millard, born 1717 in Husborne Crawley, Bedfordshire, died 1767 in Great Brickhill, Buckinghamshire, a baker by trade, and that his father's name was also Robert.
Only through a recent examination of his Will and the Will of Robert Millard, Sr (born 1698 in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, died 1749 same location), are we certain they are, indeed, son and father. We believe Henry Miller to be the father of Robert Millard, Sr, again will take examination of Wills, land titles, etc. to prove it.
