A contact has asked a question about having to be a "paid member" to use Geni.
The answer is that Geni is free for anyone to use, although there are limitations on how many profiles you can add into your new Geni family tree, how many Geni functions you can use, and so on before becoming a paid member. So far as I know, all other genealogy sites require you to be a paid member before using it at all.
For anyone who is already in an existing Geni.com family tree, it is free to view and look at. I'm not aware of any limitations other than needing their real email address and having Geni send an "Invite". I will run some tests from another tree entry and report back.
For anyone NOT in an existing Geni family tree, if they and their family can be "connected" to the existing family tree (as we have done with Unconnected Kleinsteubers and Unconnected Millards), then the paragraph above applies.
