Many times when working with genealogy we have to make some intuitive links where factual documentation is missing. We may still find some documentation for this connection, that would link the Johann Jacob Kleinsteuber, the ancestor of the Wisconsin Kleinsteubers, to his father and to his grandfather.
We know Johann Jacob was born likely between 1740 and 1750 (he married in 1770) and may have been born in Thal, just a few kilometers from Gotha.
Given names were usually passed from generation to generation. We have factual proof that a Johann Jacob Kleinsteuber was born around 1699 in Seebach, about 8 km from Thal, and had a number of children in Farnroda (3 km from Thal) from the 1730s to the 1750s. Although no Johann Jacob son is recorded, there could be a number of reasons for this.
Finally, we have a Johann Jacob Kleinsteuber born to Hans Kleinsteuber in Seebach in 1670 and who married for the second time in Farnroda.
Seebach has not been researched yet, will likely be done in April 2013, but intuition leads me to believe these are, in fact, the ancestors of the Wisconsin Kleinsteubers.
